Welcome to the Brisbane Organic Growers Inc. (BOGI) website where you can find details about the club, including how to JOIN the club. There is also information about organic gardening including content tailored to the Brisbane, Queensland area.

Our general meetings are held at the Peace Hall in Windsor on the first Thursday of every month except Janurary.

 


GUEST SPEAKER FOR OCTOBER 2015 MEETING

Our October speaker will be Russell Zabel who will share his knowledge of native bees with us. Russell started keeping native bees over 20 years ago. His interest started after reading an article in his local paper "The Gatton Star" on 22nd of December 1987 by a young entomology student by the name of Tim Heard. He contacted Tim Heard for further information and as they say the rest is history. Russell will also bring along hives and books for sale!

GUEST SPEAKER FOR SEPTEMBER 2015 MEETING

Our September speaker will be Steve Capeness, Soil Foodweb Adviser and Agronomist. Steve will tell us how to improve and preserve the quality of our soil which in turn improves the plants we grow by using compost and compost teas. We will learn how to improve the quality of our compost by adding a diverse range of materials and how to turn this into a compost tea using our own compost tea brewer.

 

GUEST SPEAKER FOR AUGUST 2015 MEETING

Jason Spotswood, George Allen and Barbara Beerling will tell us which fruit tree they would recommend you grow in our local area and how to grow it.

GUEST SPEAKER FOR JULY 2015 MEETING

Our July guest speaker will be Dick Copeman. Dick was a co-founder of Northey Street City Farm in 1994. Since 1994, Dick has taken on many roles at the farm and more recently he was behind the construction of some large wicking beds. Tonight Dick will share the knowledge he gained when building the wicking beds.
