Welcome to the Brisbane Organic Growers Inc. (BOGI) website where you can find details about the club, including how to JOIN the club. There is also information about organic gardening including content tailored to the Brisbane, Queensland area.

Our general meetings are held at the Peace Hall in Windsor on the first Thursday of every month except Janurary.

Our March guest speaker will be Professor Michael D’Occhio. He has a keen interest in food security and the global challenge of ensuring more equitable access to food. Professor D’Occhio was recently appointed Professor of Food Security at The University of Queensland and with colleagues seeks to articulate the dimensions of food security and find solutions that bridge food, human health, and natural resources and environment.

Guest Speaker Change:

Unfortunately, our guest speaker for 2 Feb is no longer available.  But, this has given us an opportunity to benefit from the wealth of knowledge of our own members.  The night will be themed "Getting Started" and we will hear from Bruce Ham on the structure of your soil, Tom Ross on time planning your planting, George Allen on the basics of fruit tree growing and Phil Ryan will talk to us about our "BOGI Treasures".  We will also introduce some of the rest of our "BOGI Brains Trust" who know all about pests, chooks, nutrients, garden gadgets, community gardens, compost, raising seedlings, worm farms, books, organic certification, permaculture and more, so it should be a great way to start the year.

Christmas Meeting - December 2011

The December meeting is the BOGI fun night of the year and is a special night for all of our members. We will start with a BBQ at 6:30 PM and have our usual heads and tails, BOGI clinic and a monster Christmas raffle. Prizes will be awarded in the Christmas Hat Parade and Trivia Quiz. There will also be entertainment and random give always throughout the night. The highlight will be a special secret guest (not the man in red). Members are asked to bring a gift of toiletries for "Mamma Renes", helping the homeless and a plate to share for supper. When members pay their entry fee of $2 they will receive one free raffle ticket (there will be no raffle tickets on sale at the December meeting). To reflect the additional costs of this meeting, the entry fee for non-members will be $10.
