Welcome to the Brisbane Organic Growers Inc. (BOGI) website where you can find details about the club, including how to JOIN the club. There is also information about organic gardening including content tailored to the Brisbane, Queensland area.
Our general meetings are held at the Peace Hall in Windsor on the first Thursday of every month except Janurary.
For our August meeting we are doing a group presentation and discussion on ‘Growing Spring Vegetables’ that will be divided into four parts. A BOGI member with expertise in each area will give a 15 minute presentation on the core issues with 10 minutes for your comments, questions, etc.
The four parts are:-
• Soil and soil preparation
• Seeds and propagation
For the July meeting at BOGI, Kath Evans will be sharing her experience with black soldier flies! Prior to joining BOGI 3 years ago, Kath said she had no idea how to grow anything and definitely no concept at all about soil biology or compost.
Our guest speaker for the June meeting will be Shane Gishford. Many of you will know Shane who is an Agronomist and Soil Foodweb adviser, and who sells fresh, local produce near the rear door of the hall on meeting nights. Shane will be talking about Neem Oil, telling us the experiences of growers who have been using it.
This is the meeting when you will have an opportunity to express your gratitude for the effort members of the BOGI Executive, Committee and Office Bearers have contributed to ‘Your’ club to keep it running smoothly while satisfying the requirements of as many members as possible using organic methods to grow our plants.
We do not hassle or put pressure on any member to take on any role in our club as volunteers are usually easy to find when required.
