Welcome to the Brisbane Organic Growers Inc. (BOGI) website where you can find details about the club, including how to JOIN the club. There is also information about organic gardening including content tailored to the Brisbane, Queensland area.

Our general meetings are held at the Peace Hall in Windsor on the first Thursday of every month except Janurary.

GUEST SPEAKER FOR JUNE 2014 MEETING

Our June Guest Speaker will be Entomologist, Richard Bull. Richard will propose a fruit fly management program we can use in our gardens. This program is used mainly in commercial orchards and with backyard fruit growers. It is based on integrated pest management (IPM) principles and does occasionally include, when necessary, the use of non-organic products, but Richard will endeavour to use soft products and biological control agents whenever possible.

MAY 2014 MEETING

Composting Evening
Following the 2014 AGM it will be straight into our recognition of ‘International Composting Awareness Week Australia 5 - 11 May’ and the importance of composting in an organic garden.
We will have representatives of two commercial compost makers/methods at the meeting to promote their product and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to tell us about
• How you compost in your garden
• Composting additives
• Problems you have
• Successes you have achieved

GUEST SPEAKER FOR APRIL 2014 MEETING

Our guest speaker in April will be Leyland Minter. When Leyland last spoke to us in October 2011 he told us of his research into the monoatomic elements that he had been able to extract from the sea. He can now share with us his latest R & D work developing an organic garden product that will control insects, fungal diseases and give exceptional plant growth. He will talk about its relevance for home gardeners and how it will help in the production of good mineral rich food, vegetables, fruit and flowers and minimise chemical usage.
